About

You're welcome wherever you're from as long as you adhere to our Code of Conduct - the meetup is in English.

Current schedule is two ~20min talks including Q&A, followed by splitting the audience into smaller groups for virtually hanging out (optional) :)

Main Talk #1 - Jared White

Writer, Designer, and Ruby/Bridgetown/Rails developer

Bridgetown: Ruby on the Jamstack, or, Why I Forked Jekyll

You might be familiar with the granddaddy of SSGs, Jekyll, which is written in Ruby. But in recent years as the static-first approach to building websites and even webapps has exploded (aka the Jamstack), Jekyll has languished and Ruby has been left behind. So in the spring of 2020, I decided to fork Jekyll and put Ruby back on the Jamstack map. That project is Bridgetown! Find out how it's been going and how the community has been growing, and what's next for Bridgetown in 2021.

Main Talk #2 - Amir Rajan

Indie Game Dev: MIRTS, The Ensign, and A Noble Circle. I ported A Dark Room to mobile which went viral out of sheer dumb luck. CEO of DragonRuby. :wq

Amir Rajan is a critically acclaimed indie game dev with titles on iOS, Android, and the Nintendo Switch. All of his games are built in Ruby! Amir will talk about how he was able to accomplish this :-)
